Description and Requirements

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for calling on independent retail stores to sell Primo products, present and authorize new items, sell promotional programs, and support merchandising needs. You’ll follow monthly priorities from business managers, enter turnover orders for distributor delivery, and help coordinate store events such as anniversaries, demos, remodels, expansions, and new store openings.


What will you do?
  • Visit assigned stores within your territory each month to sell in products and support store needs.
  • Present new items to store buyers and secure orders and authorizations.
  • Sell promotional activities, programs, and off-shelf display opportunities.
  • Review and ensure proper distribution of existing items across accounts.
  • Assist with merchandising tasks, including stocking, cleaning, rotating products, and maintaining displays.
  • Enter all turnover orders into the system after store visits and transmit them for distributor processing.
  • Support stores with special projects such as demos, trade events, remodels, new store openings, and expansions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all products, new items, and category trends.
  • Build and maintain rapport with regional managers and key client partners.
  • Communicate store issues, competitive activity, and emerging trends to leadership.
  • Ensure full distribution, correct pricing, planogram compliance, and strong display presence in all assigned accounts.
  • Sell in pallets, shippers, and incremental display programs to owners and district/group decision-makers.
  • Coordinate display builds with multiple associates to elevate execution and merchandising impact.
  • Attend and represent Acosta and clients at food shows and vendor events.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned and report to the Primo unit manager.

Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED required. 
  • Five years of prior retail experience is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, pulling, and grasping.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel overnight occasionally for meetings or food shows.
  • Ability to work in extremely cold environments such as refrigerated or freezer sections.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak and hear clearly.
  • Ability to maintain accurate vision and dexterity, and operate tools and equipment, including calculators, telephones, copiers, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
